IN OTHER WORDS, THE GOOD STUFF!

4 Races, 3 Different Winners!
Paul hangs on to slim points lead!

9 racers showed up at Zane’s fast track for the 4th race in the AHORA SuperStock Championship at the midpoint in the series. Although qualifying was nowhere close to the track record it was tight with a tie in the top position as both Paul and Zane were even at 16.04. Mark followed up with a 16.01. Then came a batch of racers at the 14s. Once again the winners of the consi would make it into the main with a Last Chance for the last spot.

Racing started with several racers showing up as the 1st consi was underway. Paul checked out in the first segment never to be headed. Dave and long missed Rich tried to close the gap but a 124.03 was just too fast for them. Marty hooked up in the 2nd consi with little or no practice but a castoff Tyco chassis that he just got was handling very smooth and the motor was fast. But Zane, David and James didn’t let him have a cruise. In fact Zane almost took it away in the final segment closing in on Marty’s 119.05 with a 117.09. David gave chase with a 113.02 and James struggled with a super quick motor and a wicked handling chassis that included a “blistered” rear tire! Starting looking like the problems the Gran Prix teams have been having lately with tires! The 3rd and final consi saw Greg and Mark wage a war over the 3rd spot in the main. It went back and forth all race long with Greg finally getting the slim lead and the spot. That put both members of Team MRT in the Last Chance and a real dog fight.

The Last Chance was going to be a tough one with Dave, Zane, Mark and David in it. Mark jumped into a lead with David and Zane tied for 2nd. Dave was struggling and held down 4th the entire race. Mark extended his lead in the 2nd segment with David just edging Zane for 2nd. But Zane turned it on in the 3rd with a 30 for a 88 to tie Mark and David was very close at 87. The critical final segment had Zane on the easy red and he used to burned a 34 to ease away for the final spot to end up at 122.05. Mark tried but even a 32 was no match for Zane. David crashed his brains out for a 23 to end up 3rd.

The main lined up and Zane jumped into the lead right away on red with a 33. Paul and Greg hung grimly on with a 31 and 30. Marty was struggling at 25. The race basically broke down in separate races for 1st and 2nd between Greg and Paul and a race for 3rd and 4th between Zane and Marty. Greg moved into the lead in the 2nd segment at 62 with Zane and Paul right behind at 61. Marty was hanging on with 58. In the 3rd Greg took over with a 34 on red for a total of 96 to lead by 4 over Paul 92 and Zane fading slighty at 90. Marty closed up to Zane with a 87. The final segment had Paul on fast red and even with a 4 lap lead Greg couldn’t count him out especially after losing the last race in the final segment to Paul. But on blue Greg cut a decent 32 to Paul’s 33 to have the 3rd different winner in 4 races to close out with a close to the record 128.9. Paul was at 125.11 to Zane’s 118.10 and Marty’s 114.1.

Several racers stayed over for several hours dialing their cars in for the next race at Mark’s fast BuckTrax. There was lots of bench racing with exchanging of cars to see how each other’s were handling. It is amazing to experience the difference between each other’s cars when you would think that they would be similiar because of the rules. But they are like night and day! Marty’s car was as some observed very fast and smooth. Now if he can just get to the race on time! The points are still pretty tight and I want to once again mention that the points will not determine the order of prize giving. The racers who attend 6 of the 8 races will get first choice. And the way things are going we are going to have a lot of stuff to give away! Good Luck and Have Fun in your Racing!
