IN OTHER WORDS, THE GOOD STUFF!

Hope everyone had a great time racing SuperStocks March 7th and T-Jets the 14th at Marty’s outstanding racing facility. Marty’s track is a lot of fun and we’re glad t see him back in the saddle (schedule) again. Paul set a new track record in the main even though the qualifying times were way off the 4.1s we’re use to seeing. Paul was really hooked up and looked unbeatable. He easily cruised to a 20 lap margin at the end. Team Banta took up 3 of the 4 slots in the main. Wasn’t real exciting but everyone was having a great time and that is what it is about. Getting together and having fun racing HO slotcars! I hear the T-Jet race was just as much fun. Glad to see them back to slamming hard plastic against hard plastic. For the T-Jet guys, the latest issue of HO-USA is out and has some excellent articles on T-Jets. $25 gets you a subscription for 4 issues a year. This one also has the GTP Enduro and Indy 750 race that was held at Terri’s.

The March 21st race at Paul’s was a blast! A good turnout with some surprising racing. James broke his Dad’s qualifying track record with a great 24.7 lap effort. The kid is getting really good. Ran away and hid in the main. Need to put some beers in him before the race. Marty and Ken had a super battle for 2nd. Paul had generously lent Marty one of his cars and Marty looked mighty fast. So guess who he cuts out of the main in the last chance qualifier? Paul! Paul’s cars are SO HOOKED UP that we got to take one to Calif just in case. Even though he isn’t going it would be great to pick up some wood with one of his cars. Ken “Kill The Tyco” finally got one to run fast and handle enough to challenge James in his heat for the lead.

And if things get any better the Open SuperStock race at Mark’s on his great BuckTrax was a lot of fun. I guess all those pent up hormones of wanting to race faster cars came out. A real good turnout with Mark running a real smart, clean race to win. Ken was TQ and finished 2nd with a car that handled like a dream. Looks like the ideal setup is to take one of Paul’s Tyco and Ken’s Tomy to out of state races! We will be having more races at Mark’s, in fact the first of the 1997 SuperStock championship races will be held there. Track is smooth, consistent and FAST!

The California SCHOR race is upon us again. The AHORA yearly trip is now in the planning. So far it looks like Marty, Zane, Greg and Dave are making the trip. The schedule there is very busy with the opportunity to race 2 classes Friday evening and 6 Saturday. Gonna be a lot of thrashing. Some discussion into setting up a test session at Mark’s BuckTrax before the race. I’ll be sure to pass it on when I hear. Already cooking up my wings and fried chicken to munch on the way. Can’t wait to see our ole buddies from Cal way and hopefully we’ll take home wood for the 3rd year in a row!

I’ve gotten some feedback on the Championship series, all different. So we’re gonna stick with what we know. Tyco or LifeLike SuperStocks with GTP/WSC bodies. You must run a GTP/WSC body to qualify for points. They must be of the 1980-90s vintage meaning mainly IMSA style. 8 race series with your best six results counting. Trophies and hopefully prizes to hand out in the end. Here’s the schedule:

April 4th Zane’s SuperStock
April 11th Marty’s SCHOR Warmup
April 18th SCHOR SpringNationals
